| The West Wing was here on 3 separate occasions, filming material for several episodes. The first time (4/03) they filmed a night scene in the Japanese Garden (playing Washington D.C.'s National Arboretum) for the 4th season episode "Commencement". In August 2003, they filmed scenes for the first 3 episodes of Season 5. The family returns home (to the Boone Gallery) after the kidnapping (1), the President addresses the nation (a video screen insert for 2), and the rescued daughter faces the press (3) in the Brown Garden. In November 2003, they returned to film their 100th episode "The Stormy Present". This time we were the Lassiter Presidential Library. Meetings and discussions between the President (Martin Sheen) and past Presidents (James Cromwell and John Goodman) were held on the Huntington Gallery Loggia and along the trellises of the Rose Garden. A presidential funeral, complete with a five gun salute, took place on the Australian lawn. |
