Rose
Three acres of colorful flowers, walkways shaded by white wooden trellises and antique iron arches, the Rose Garden also features a small fountain, decorative marble benches and sculpture, and an 18th century French tempietto (“The Temple of Love”). A gently sloping lawn to the east leads to The Huntington Gallery. Roses bloom in this garden from April through January 2, when pruning begins.
Several productions have been inspired to use the area as the White House Rose Garden, taking advantage of the classical architectural style of the Rose Garden Tea Room. (This building, now an active restaurant, was formerly Henry Huntington’s private office and recreation room, containing a billiard table and bowling lanes.) (For more information about this garden, click here.)
